STOP EXPLOITING THE NAME OF JHAR FOR YOUR SELFISH INTERESTS; CRITICS SLAM CHIEF MANASSEH BUTSWAT OVER ALLEGED EXPLOITATION OF JHAR NAME
In a turn of events that has sparked heated debates across Jhar social platforms, Chief Manasseh Bustwat, a prominent figure in Jhar politics, finds himself at the center of sharp criticisms. Allegations have emerged claiming that he has repeatedly formed numerous groups in the name of the Jhar people, often tied to election cycles, with little to show for them beyond their initial announcements.
Critics allege that Chief Bustwat has turned the practice of creating such groups into a recurring strategy, citing examples where he has declared himself both president and treasurer, only for the groups to fade into obscurity shortly thereafter. Concerns about transparency have also been raised, with many questioning the accountability of funds generated under these organizations.
One outspoken critic remarked, “Chief Bustwat keeps forming groups to rally Jhar people, yet there is no track record of success or sustainability. Where are the previous groups he created? What happened to their promises?” Another person cautioned him, urging, “The Jhar name is not a tool for political gain. If he is truly committed to unity, let his actions speak louder than his words.”
The Jhar Political Forum: A New Beginning or History Repeating Itself?
On November 24th, 2024, Chief Mannaseh Bustwat launched his latest initiative, the Jhar Political Forum (JPF), a movement he described as a unifying platform for Jhar people across all states where the tribe is present. Running under the slogan Lu'luna ("We are one"), the JPF aims to build a formidable political force to champion the interests of the Jhar community.
Chief Bustwat expressed optimism during the forum’s unveiling, emphasizing the need for solidarity among Jhar people in the face of political and social challenges. However, critics remain skeptical. They argue that past initiatives, which promised similar objectives, failed to deliver due to poor leadership and a lack of follow-through.
The Larger Debate: Accountability and Unity
The criticisms leveled against Chief Bustwat reflect a deeper issue within Jhar society — the struggle to balance unity and accountability. While there is widespread agreement on the need for political cohesion, there is also a growing demand for transparent and effective leadership.
“ Unity is essential, but it must be built on trust and integrity,” said one community leader. “If we cannot hold our leaders accountable, how can we achieve genuine progress?”
As Chief Manasseh Bustwat champions the Jhar Political Forum, it remains to be seen whether this initiative will truly serve the collective interests of the Jhar people or become yet another chapter in the cycle of unfulfilled promises.
For now, the people of Jhar wait, watch, and hope for a future where leadership matches the aspirations of the community.
