The Jhar region, like many parts of Plateau State and Nigeria at large, has continued to reel under the weight of relentless attacks, insecurity, and senseless violence. The JHAR Development Association (JDA), Abuja chapter, deeply mourns the tragic loss of lives in our homeland and stands in solidarity with the affected families and communities.
We strongly condemn the recent killings in some villages across Jharland and other parts of Nigeria. These attacks are not only a threat to human lives but also an assault on the peace, stability, and economic well-being of our people.
It is disheartening to witness a situation where farmers can no longer access their farmlands—lands that have fed generations and sustained livelihoods. This growing insecurity has pushed many into poverty, uncertainty, and despair. The time to act is now.
We call on our security agencies to rise to the occasion and take decisive steps to end this violence. The people look to them for protection, and it is their responsibility to ensure safety in every corner of our nation.
Equally, we urge our elected leaders—both in the executive and legislative arms—to show the courage and commitment required in this critical moment. They must use the powers entrusted to them by the people to bring an end to the bloodshed and suffering.
To our youth, we say: remain calm, law-abiding, and focused. Your strength and resilience are invaluable. We encourage the establishment of community-based security initiatives, such as vigilante groups, to support existing structures—working in unity and peace to secure our environment.
Let us continue to pray fervently for divine intervention and a restoration of peace in Jharland and all affected communities. May we never lose hope, and may our collective efforts bring healing, justice, and lasting stability.
Long live Jhar!
Long live Kanam Local Government Council!
Long live Plateau State!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Signed,
Sumalkya Ishaku Nafisu
Chairman, JHAR Development Association, Abuja
