The recent bill proposed by the National Assembly is deeply concerning. It reflects a shortsightedness that fails to consider the long-term consequences. Those in power today seem to forget that their tenure is not permanent. The same laws they create will one day apply to them or their descendants. While the current state of Nigeria's justice system may seem to protect them, with its tendency to serve those who can afford it, they are blind to the reality that their own children could eventually suffer under these same primitive laws. It is a dangerous game to play, and history shows that such actions often lead to regret.
